How To Be Human: The Yoga of Self-Compassion

  • The Yoga Lodge on Whidbey Island (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

A yoga retreat with Amy Armstrong & Shannon Kluever

Join veteran teachers, Amy and Shannon, for this deep dive into practicing self-acceptance and whole-hearted compassion.

Start where you are: vulnerable, stunned, confused, delighted, sad, frustrated, joyful.  All of these places are on the human map and mapped on the human heart. You are exactly where you need to be. “What?” you say, “how can that be?” Well, it’s true.

There are times when the fabric of the self feels worn, even torn apart. With the practices of breathing and intention, we can bridge the body and mind and mend that fabric. We can reconnect to our innate wholeness and heal ourselves.

Come to retreat to befriend the parts of yourself that stumble in the dark, to be steadfast in the face of what is, and to remember your inherent goodness.  Bring your full and patient attention to the present moment, and learn to meet all aspects of your experience with loving kindness.

On Whidbey Island, surrounded by trees and sky and water, we will breathe together to remember our wholeness and move together to celebrate the beautiful bodies we live in. Experience both active and restorative yoga classes, contemplative silence, guided meditation, and delicious organic food.

Let this moment be enough, and remember that you yourself are enough, are everything, are a wonder.

Introduction to the Sentient Body, A Process Work Approach

with Lisa Marks, MA LMHC

“Every time you ignore sentient, that is generally unrecognized, dreamlike perceptions, something inside you goes into a mild form of shock because you have overlooked the spirit of life, your greatest potential power.” —Arnold Mindell

Subtle sensations open us to the unbroken wholeness underlying all experience. Through Sentient Awareness, a finely-tuned transpersonal awareness that picks up slight somatic experiences, we discover that tiny events lead to deep and transforming moments.

Our physical bodies reveal information essential to our life path, information that later appears in dreams, relationships, body symptoms and life events. In this introductory workshop we explore subtle body experiences through small and/or large movements, energy sketches and simple words to translate their messages into our daily world.  We leave feeling more embodied and connected with our next steps and “the spirit of life” that moves us. The Sentient Body is a powerful awareness practice for daily living.

Cost is $60. Registration and full payment before the scheduled class qualifies for a discounted price of $50.

Email lisa@sentientbody.com or call Lisa at (360) 385-7760 for more information.

To hold your space send a deposit of $20 or the reduced rate of $50 to:

Your Mythic Path and the Sentient Body

Lisa Marks

Lisa Marks

Facilitated by Lisa Marks

Our earliest dreams and memories are blueprints for the energies we work with throughout our lives. These “snapshots” illustrate the development of our primary identity or ego and the secondary parts of ourselves that seek awareness and relationship with us. Exploring our life myth as laid out in these earliest dreams and/or memories we discover the unique energies the underlying sentient field has bound together in our beings. We explore relationship between these parts of ourselves, opening us to the gifts we bring to our communities and the Earth.

Bringing awareness to subtle body experiences, we interact through small and/or large movements, energy sketches and simple words to translate the message our dreams and memories bring. With short discussions, demonstrations, inner work and movement exercises we integrate these energies to honor our unique path in the world. This workshop is open to participants who have taken an Introduction to the Sentient Body workshop.

Advance registration is required. Cost is $60. Registration and full payment before the scheduled class qualifies for a discounted price of $50. Email lisa@sentientbody.com, or call Lisa at (360) 385-7760 for more information. To hold your space send a deposit of $20 or the reduced rate of $50 to Lisa Marks, PO Box 1001, Port Townsend, WA 98368. SentientBody.com

We invite you to join Angela for this rare opportunity to experience an ever-fresh exploration of the essence of yoga. Renowned for her continually evolving “inner body” approach to yoga, Angela inspires students worldwide to go beyond prescribed poses and techniques and to open to the deeper organic internal experience of the practice.

Angela’s unique guidance, encouragement and support will help students of all levels discover “undoing and allowing”. Moving between dynamic and passive states of mind and body, the generous and self-affirming movement of energy arises to nurture and yield a fluid creative intuitive practice, leading to a deep sense of experiencing Self from within.

Yoga is constantly evolving and unfolding with our lives and dies when we fix, label, and control it. In this workshop we will dive inside to feel, listen and honor the “life energy” that forms and surrounds us.

This internal awakening inspires trust and the possibility to stay present with old trauma issues until they feel accepted and safe enough to unwind and release. With an understanding of energy and the power of Prana,  long suppressed and hidden parts  of ourselves revive and return.  We become more whole and content. New opportunities unfold.

So begins the journey of a unique and truly personal practice that embraces whatever style of yoga you might follow, but goes far beyond style as you learn to trust the natural evolution of your personal yoga practice.
